NEW DELHI, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The total number of COVID-19 cases rose to 74 in India on Thursday, said the official data issued by the Ministry of Health.
The latest lone case was detected in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Out of the total 74 cases, there are 17 foreigners.
Out of the 17 cases in Kerala, the first three cases had been successfully cured.
A day after the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared it an pandemic, two Indian states - Delhi and adjoining Haryana declared it as an epidemic on Thursday. As a precautionary measure, the Delhi Government also shut down all cinema halls till March 31.
Earlier today, the country's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that every possible effort was being made to bring back Indians stranded abroad amid COVID-19 pandemic.
