BAGHDAD, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Health Ministry on Wednesday announced one more death and two new cases of COVID-19.
The two new cases were registered in the provinces of Karbala and Najaf south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the ministry said in a brief statement.
It also said that a new death of an infected person was registered in Karbala, some 110 km south of Baghdad.
With the ministry's statement, the total number of infected cases in Iraq rose to 73, of whom eight have died.
On Saturday night, a Chinese team of experts arrived in Baghdad as part of China's assistance in confronting the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country.
The team, which was sent to Iraq by the Red Cross Society of China, includes seven experts from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The team is expected to stay in Iraq for one month to help the government tackle COVID-19 through such as testing, treating and following up the cases.
