Senegal reports its 5th confirmed case of COVID-19

DAKAR, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action confirmed the country's fifth case of novel coronavirus COVID-19 on Wednesday.

According to a press release of the ministry, the infected patient is of Senegalese nationality living in Italy, who returned to Dakar from Italy on March 6.

After showing symptoms of the COVID-19 on Monday, he seeked medical help on Tuesday, then put under quarantine immediately. This Wednesday, Pasteur Institute in Dakar notified Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action his positive test results to COVID-19.

This is the fifth confimed case of COVID-19 in Senegal, while two cases among the five are declared cured and discharged from Fann Hospital where all COVID-19 cases are receiving treatment.
