TOKYO, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government and people will win the battle against the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, said Kazuteru Saionji, visiting professor of Higashi Nippon International University in Japan.
Humanity should unite to fight the virus, said Saionji, also a consultant at the Japan-China Friendship Association, in a recent interview with Xinhua.
In the fight against the epidemic, China has effectively mobilized the whole country, while the international community's support for China has also gradually taken shape, he said.
"The fight against the virus is tough and challenging. But I believe China will win," Saionji said.
A virus does not know national boundaries, and an outbreak could happen at any time at any place, he said.
To defeat the virus, humankind must unite and the international community must cooperate, the professor said.
The world should "stand shoulder to shoulder with China and the Chinese people to fight," Saionji said.
Saionji said countries must approach the coronavirus in a calm and scientific manner rather than panic and unite through modern medicine to defeat it, Saionji said.
