URUMQI, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Friday reported one asymptomatic case of COVID-19, according to a statement from the regional COVID-19 control headquarters.
The asymptomatic case was reported between midnight and 10 a.m. Friday in the economic and technological development zone located in the regional capital Urumqi.
The case was detected during a regular nucleic acid testing of staff members of a freight yard on Thursday. On Friday, the city's center for disease control and prevention confirmed the test result as positive. The asymptomatic carrier has been placed under medical observation in a designated hospital.
