MACAO, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Saturday reported two new confirmed case of COVID-19, bringing the total tally to 77.

According to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center of Macao, the new cases were both close contacts of the 75th case reported on Tuesday.

The 76th case was a 53-year-old housing decoration worker from the mainland who had lived in the same residential unit as the 75th case. The 77th case was a 49-year-old woman of Vietnamese nationality who was a friend of the 75th case, the center said.

The 76th case developed fever on Friday while the 77th case had shown no symptoms yet, the center said.

Leong Iek Hou, coordinator at Macao's Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said at a press conference that no decision had been made as to whether the SAR would conduct a new round of mass testing.

Macao initiated two rounds of mass testing on Sept. 25 and Oct. 4 respectively, with the results all coming out negative.

Macao conducted the first round of such testing on Aug. 4 when it reported four new COVID-19 cases. Enditem
