ACCRA, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Ghana has named an interim technical team to take charge of its men's national football team, the Black Stars, for the upcoming double-header AFCON qualifiers next month, according to a joint statement by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Black Stars coach search committee on Friday.
The four-man interim technical team will be led by Swede Lars Kim Bjorkegren, who is the head coach of Ghana's women's national football team. He will be assisted by Ibrahim Tanko, Godwin Attram and Fatawu Dauda, all former players of the Black Stars.
"The complementarity of their backgrounds and skill sets will provide the leadership and support required to prepare the team effectively for the upcoming fixtures," read the statement.
Carlos Queiroz departed as Ghana head coach by mutual agreement early this month following a series of poor results by the Black Stars in the AFCON qualifiers last month. Ghana lost 2-0 away to Cote d'Ivoire before suffering a 4-2 home defeat to The Gambia.
Ghana, who currently sits bottom of Group C with no point after two rounds, will play its next two matches against Somalia next month. ■
