ISTANBUL, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday that tensions in the Middle East have reached an alarming level following airstrikes on Iran, pledging to intensify diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
In Ankara, Erdogan said that the regional situation had become extremely scary after the strikes and that hundreds of civilians, including innocent children, had lost their lives.
He said Türkiye would remain vigilant in safeguarding its borders and airspace.
"If a risk to our country's security arises, we will take all necessary measures in coordination with our allies," he said.
Türkiye will continue multi-faceted diplomatic efforts to prevent further bloodshed in the region and stop tensions from escalating to an irreversible point, he said. ■
