BRUSSELS, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The annual "Car Free Sunday" event was held on Sunday in the Region of Brussels, Belgium, marking the high point of the Brussels Mobility Week 2022.

From 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Brussels-Capital Region became the largest car-free zone in Europe. People had the opportunity to rediscover the pleasure of walking, cycling, riding by scooter, or traveling by public transport in Brussels.

Almost no motorized vehicles ran on the streets in Brussels. Public transport such as the Brussels metro, buses, and trams was operated free. Various activities, including concerts, folk art festivals, and exhibitions of agricultural products, were held across the city.

The Brussels Mobility Week 2022, with the theme of "Let's make Brussels a city for children", runs from Sept. 16 to Sept. 22. This aims to encourage people to try different modes of transport for their daily trips and further make Brussels a child-friendly city.
