KABUL, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- A total of 10 miners were trapped inside a gold mine after a tunnel collapsed in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province on Wednesday, provincial police spokesman Naqibullah Masroor said.
The miners were working inside a tunnel in a gold mine in Chah Ab district when the tunnel suddenly collapsed Wednesday morning, the official said.
A rescue team had rushed to the site to rescue the trapped miners, the official said, adding that the provincial governor and police chief had also rushed to the site to monitor the rescue operations. ■
