JERUSALEM, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli military forces on Sunday night in the southern West Bank town of Beit Ummar, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.
The two were among a group of Palestinians who were burning tires and hurling Molotov cocktails toward the nearby Israeli settlement of Karmei Tzur, said the IDF.
Israeli soldiers opened fire, killing two of them and "neutralizing" another one, it added.
Palestine's official news agency, WAFA, reported that the two victims were identified as Reda Sami Hassan Awad, 15, and Issa Arafat Ismail Awad, 19.
The agency said that another young man was wounded by Israeli fire and was treated at a nearby hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.
According to the Israeli military, the burning tires sparked a fire in an area adjacent to the Israeli settlement. The blaze was later extinguished by firefighters. ■
