GAZA, June 18 (Xinhua) -- At least three Palestinians were killed Thursday in an Israeli strike targeting a civilian vehicle in central Gaza City, according to eyewitnesses and Palestinian medical sources.

Eyewitnesses told Xinhua that an Israeli drone fired at least one missile at the vehicle near a park.

Palestinian medical sources said that medical and rescue teams recovered the bodies and treated several others with varying degrees of injuries.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the strike.

Gaza-based health authorities reported on Thursday that hospitals in the Gaza Strip received two bodies and eight wounded over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire in October 2025 to 1,007, with 3,165 wounded.

The total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, has reached 73,018, with 173,273 injured.

Israeli attacks continue despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that took effect in October 2025. Israel continues to carry out sporadic airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, claiming to target militants and military infrastructure.

The first phase of the ceasefire included an exchange of prisoners and detainees, the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from some areas.

In mid-January, the United States announced the start of the second phase of its proposed peace plan, which includes a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the disarmament of Hamas, the commencement of reconstruction efforts, and the establishment of a transitional governing body in the enclave.
