KUWAIT CITY, June 1 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwaiti army said on Monday that its air defense systems had intercepted "hostile" missiles and drones earlier in the day.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said the sounds of explosions heard in some areas were caused by air defense systems engaging incoming threats.
The military urged the public to follow security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
According to local media reports, air raid sirens sounded three times across Kuwait starting at 6:00 a.m. local time (0300 GMT).
The latest incident came days after the Kuwaiti army said on Thursday that its air defense systems had intercepted "hostile" missiles and drones targeting the country. ■
