BERLIN, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Hamburg beat Freiburg 3-2 in the Bundesliga on Sunday, with Bakery Jatta, Luka Vuskovic and Fabio Balde all on target.

Hamburg took the lead in the 14th minute when Albert Gronbaek sent the ball across the six-yard area and Jatta converted at the far post.

Freiburg responded immediately. Niklas Beste released Lukas Kubler down the right, and the latter set up Igor Matanovic to score two minutes later.

Hamburg regained the lead from a set piece in the 64th minute, when Vuskovic's low free kick deflected off Maximilian Eggestein and beyond goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.

Balde added the third in the 67th minute when Nicolai Remberg sent him clear and he finished low.

Matanovic headed in Vincenzo Grifo's corner in the 87th minute, but Freiburg could not find an equalizer.

The win lifted Hamburg to 11th place, and it will next visit Bayer Leverkusen. Freiburg hosts RB Leipzig with another chance to secure seventh place, which would mean qualification for next season's Conference League.

"We have certain standards, and for that reason we are not satisfied with today's performance. We had chances that we did not take, and in the future we have to do things better," Freiburg coach Julian Schuster said.

Elsewhere, Jan Schoppner struck twice as relegation-threatened Heidenheim beat Cologne 3-1. Union Berlin defeated Mainz 3-1, with Oliver Burke and Josip Juranovic scoring in the closing stages after the match had appeared headed for a draw.
