KABUL, May 7 (Xinhua) -- A fertilizer plant constructed by the private sector has been inaugurated in Balkh province, north of Afghanistan, reported the official Bakhtar News Agency on Thursday.
Established at a capital of 45 million afghani (around 700,000 U.S. dollars) the plant could produce 200 tons of fertilizer every day.
According to the plant's Managing Director Mubashir Mutawakil, about 100 people are currently working for the factory, and the number of employees would rise as production increases.
Speaking on the occasion, Mawlawi Sadar Azam Usmani, deputy minister of the Ministry for Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, assured the government's support to the private sector and called upon investment in the post-war Afghanistan. ■
