WASHINGTON, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Bam Adebayo scored 83 points as the Miami Heat beat the Washington Wizards 150-129 in an NBA regular-season game on Tuesday, producing the second-highest single-game scoring total in league history.
Adebayo played nearly 42 minutes and shot 20-for-43 from the field, including seven 3-pointers. He also went 36-for-43 from the free-throw line to lead Miami to victory on its home court.
The 83-point performance surpassed Kobe Bryant's 81 points in 2006, moving Adebayo into second place on the NBA's all-time single-game scoring list behind Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962.
Adebayo also set NBA single-game records for both free throws made and free throws attempted.
Two days earlier, Adebayo scored 24 points in a win over the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons to eclipse 10,000 career points, becoming the second player in Heat history to reach the mark after Dwyane Wade. ■
