MOSCOW, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has projected a 0.6 percent decline in the country's gas production in 2025, local media outlets reported on Tuesday.
The output will fall to 680.2 billion cubic meters (BCM) in 2025, according to the reports, citing the ministry's forecast for Russia's socio-economic development in 2026 and the planned period of 2027-2028 published on its official website.
It also projected a 1.5 percent increase for 2026, with total production reaching 690.4 BCM.
In 2027, the gas production is expected to rise by 3.2 percent, totaling 712.8 BCM, followed by a further 3.8 percent growth in 2028 to 739.9 BCM, said the forecast.
The country's liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports will grow by 3.2 percent in 2025, reaching 35.7 million tons, and by 12.9 percent in 2026, rising to 40.3 million tons.
Under its baseline forecast, the ministry anticipates Russia's LNG exports will increase to 40.3 million tons in 2026 and 46.9 million tons in 2027, while under a conservative forecast, LNG exports will rise to 37.7 million tons and 40.3 million tons in 2026 and 2027 respectively. ■
