BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store will pay an official visit to China from Sept. 9 to 11.

Store, born on Aug. 25, 1960, is a politician who graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). He has served in various positions including Representative of the Norwegian Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Director of the Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General, State Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister's Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Health. He became the leader of the Labor Party in 2014 and assumed the role of Prime Minister in October 2021.

He is married and has three children.

The Store-led Labor Party seeks a welfare state, aiming to achieve full employment, sustainable development, fair distribution, and enhanced social welfare, while maintaining a positive stance on joining the European Union.

Norway was one of the first Western countries to recognize New China, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Wednesday at a daily press briefing, noting that this year marks the 70th anniversary of China-Norway diplomatic ties.

She said China highly values its relations with Norway, hoping that through this visit, the two sides will together carry forward the traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, advance the green transition, and work for the sustained, sound and steady growth of bilateral relations.
