Asia Album: Traditional pottery making in Afghanistan

BALKH, Afghanistan, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Potters made pottery carefully using the same traditional technique as their ancestors in Dawlat Abad District, north Afghanistan's Balkh province.

Though inexpensive modern crockery has largely replaced traditional pieces, many people still favor handmade clay pot dishware.

The art form of pottery making not only serves as a source of livelihood for the artisans, but also embodies the resilience and creativity of the Afghan people.
