BEIJING, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.26 percent to 3,057.38 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.53 percent higher at 9,369.7 points.
The combined turnover of China's stock market surpassed 1 trillion yuan (about 140.89 billion U.S. dollars), higher than the 814.7 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to transport equipment, insurance and construction machinery led the gains, while those linked to tourism and hotels and catering suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.85 percent to close at 1,795.52 points Monday. ■
