WARSAW, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski emphasized that Saturday's defeat against Real Madrid hurts as Xavi Hernandez's players deserved a better result.

The Catalans needed just six minutes to break the deadlock, but Jude Bellingham scored twice after the break to lead Real Madrid to a massive victory.

"For sure, the defeat against Real hurts us as we didn't deserve that result. It was really difficult for our team, we had a lot of injuries and an intense calendar. It's difficult to play twice a week with one squad. We did our best. Maybe there was a little bit of strength left at the end of the match," Lewandowski was quoted as saying by Polish media on Sunday.

The striker's performance in the Clasico remained in doubt after he had suffered an ankle sprain in the UEFA Champions League clash against FC Porto in early October.

After playing slightly over 30 minutes on Saturday, the Pole admitted that the return turned out to be difficult for him.

"When you have an injury, you have to do a lot of work to heal and get back to your best shape. I needed patience, but I wanted to return to the pitch as soon as possible. Medically, everything was fine. I didn't feel pain. However, it was difficult to prepare for the match as I didn't train much with the team," Lewandowski concluded.
