LHASA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Third China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation released the Nyingchi Initiative in the southwestern Chinese city of Nyingchi on Thursday in a bid to deepen international cooperation in the trans-Himalaya region.

Around the theme of "promoting the harmony of humans and nature, sharing the fruits of cooperation and development," participating parties have had an in-depth exchange of views on eco-environment, development cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and reached broad consensus, said the document.

In the initiative, China has proposed to deepen international ecological cooperation and promote harmony between humans and nature; strengthen international development cooperation and share the outcomes of the development; promote people-to-people and cultural dialogue and exchanges and safeguard the diversity of world civilizations; and maintain international peace and security and improve the global governance system.

The trans-Himalayan region is characterized by a large population, diverse civilizations and substantial ecological diversity, and its development is crucial to the common well-being of people all over the world, the initiative noted.

"We will strengthen infrastructure development in railways, roads, power grids, communications and aviation across the trans-Himalayan region, build a three-dimensional trans-Himalayan interconnection network, further expand opening up, intensify economic and trade exchanges and cross-border cooperation, deepen agricultural cooperation and rural revitalization, and jointly build the Trans-Himalaya Economic Cooperation Belt," read the initiative.

The document also seeks to promote clean and low-carbon energy and its safe and efficient use in the trans-Himalayan region, accelerate collaboration in new energy, environmental protection and other fields, and facilitate the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development in the region.

This forum is a testament to the boundless potential of international cooperation and the strength of regional partnerships, said Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Nepal's ambassador to China, adding that it underscores the importance of transcending borders, forging meaningful connections between nations, and addressing common challenges together.

The forum, co-hosted by the regional government of Tibet and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to run from Oct. 4 to 6. Representatives from more than 40 countries, regions and international organizations attended the forum.
