ISLAMABAD, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Arif Alvi appointed on Thursday a 19-member federal cabinet of the interim government led by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the media wing of the President House told Xinhua.
The federal cabinet includes 16 federal ministers and three advisers to the caretaker prime minister, according to the President House.
The media wing added that the president administered the oath to the federal ministers while giving approval to the appointment of the advisors to the prime minister.
The portfolios for the cabinet members are expected to be announced later, according to government officials.
The new cabinet comprised politicians, technocrats, businesspersons, retired bureaucrats and media persons.
The latest development came after the previous cabinet was dissolved following the National Assembly, or the lower house of the country's parliament, was dissolved by the president on the advice of then Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Later on, Sharif and the opposition leader in the house jointly nominated Kakar as the caretaker prime minister to run day-to-day affairs until the general elections and the formation of a new government. ■
