CHENGDU, July 31 (Xinhua) -- South Korea had two taekwondo gold medals out of four on the third competition day of the Chengdu Universiade here on Monday.
One of the most intense battles of the day started in the women's 46kg final between Bakisheva Rita of Kazakhstan and Huang Ying-hsuan of Chinese Taipei.
They drew 1-1 in the first two rounds. Bakisheva scored first with a body kicking in the last round, Huang tried to get back into contention with active attacking but finally lost.
South Korea's Kim Yu-jin won women's 57kg gold, defeating Lo Chia-ling of Chinese Taipei in the final.
As for the men's category on Monday, Hajimousaeinafouti Mahdi of Iran won the 54kg division title, and Lee Sang-ryeol of South Korea emerged victorious in the 68kg division.
Four taekwondo golds will be up for grabs in Tuesday's competitions, namely men's 58kg, and 80kg, as well as women's 49kg and 67kg categories. ■
