JOHANNESBURG, April 25 (Xinhua) -- South Africa's Minister of Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa on Tuesday implored the private sector to help the government build industrial capacity and generate energy to address power shortages facing the country.

South African government is removing constraints that impede businesses to promote investment in energy generation, Ramokgopa said while addressing the Solar & Future Energy Show Africa 2023, which began Tuesday and will end Wednesday in Johannesburg.

"There are possibilities for you to make money and contribute to the overall growth of South Africa. It is you who will help us resolve these challenges," said Ramokgopa.

South Africa is in the process of strengthening the grid, he noted, calling for the private sector to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the transition from reliance on fossil fuels to clean energy.
