American duo Chock/Bates win ice dance title at figure skating worlds

SAITAMA, Japan, March 25 (Xinhua) -- American duo Madison Chock and Evan Bates claimed the ice dance title at the World Figure Skating Championships here on Saturday.

Chock and Bates, three-time winners of the Four Continents Championships, scored 134.07 points in the free dance to add to their overnight lead in rhythm dance, winning the gold medal with a total of 226.01.

Reigning European champions Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri of Italy came second on 219.85 points while last year's Grand Prix Final champions Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier of Canada finished third on 217.88.

Britain's Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson, the 2023 European silver medalists, ranked fourth on 214.73.
