SANAA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Sunday in a report that Yemen is in urgent need of international assistance for providing basic health services to its citizens.

It said nine years of war have hurled the Arab country into a grave humanitarian crisis, as 46 percent of its health facilities are "partially functioning or completely out of service" due to shortages of staff, funds, electricity, medicines, supplies, and equipment.

The WHO added it is now also severely underfunded in providing critical health services to the Yemenis, calling the international community to step up their relief efforts.
