DOHA, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Poland's Szymon Marciniak has been chosen to referee the World Cup final between Argentina and France on Sunday, world football governing body FIFA said.
The 41-year-old will be joined by assistants Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz, FIFA said in a statement late on Friday.
Marciniak, who made his World Cup debut in Russia four years ago, has overseen matches involving both finalists in this tournament: Argentina's victory over Australia in the round of 16 and France's group-stage win against Denmark.
Listkiewicz is the son of Michal Listkiewicz, who officiated in the 1990 World Cup final between West Germany and Argentina, and at the 1994 World Cup. ■
