CAIRO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and another four wounded after a building collapsed in the Egyptian province of Giza, the Egyptian Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
The five-storey residential building came down on Tuesday night in Imbaba, a densely populated neighborhood in the southwestern part of the Greater Cairo metropolitan area, the ministry said in a statement, adding that five ambulances rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to nearby hospitals.
An eyewitness told Xinhua that the collapsed building also destroyed balconies from neighboring buildings.
The police said in a statement that they have evacuated residents in the neighboring buildings over the fear of more collapses, adding that the cause of the tragedy was not immediately clear. ■
