LHASA, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Tree planting on sandbanks along the Yarlung Zangbo River used to be considered a hard job due to frequent drought and floods. Paljor, 63, has been doing this job for over 30 years.
Paljor set up a plant nursery with the help of the local government in 2004. The trees planted in his nursery have been distributed to areas all over Tibet.
Over 45 million trees were planted in the city of Shannan in the past four decades. A vast "green belt" has been formed along the Yarlung Zangbo River stretching all the way to the east.
