KAMPALA, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's head coach Tolbert Onyango Wednesday has named the final squad that will feature in the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens qualifier.
The 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens qualifiers will also act as the Rugby Africa Men's Sevens and Commonwealth Games qualifiers.
Fourteen countries and regions will take part in the tournament slated for April 23-24 at the Kyadondo Rugby ground in Kampala, Uganda.
"We have prepared well and the 12 players I have finally selected have proved that they will be able to perform on the field," said Onyango after naming the team at Kyadondo Rugby Ground.
Onyango explained that they must take every game like a final because the best three medalists will qualify for a ticket to Cape Town for the World Cup, while only the finalists will have booked their flight to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games slated for July 29-31.
Michael Wokorach, the Uganda team captain, told Xinhua that the team has prepared well and should be able to put up a good show and qualify for the World Cup and Commonwealth Games. We also need to use out home advantage well," added Wokorach.
