WARSAW, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik along with defender Bartosz Salamon won't play in Tuesday's match against Sweden in the play-off of the World Cup qualifier due to injuries, the Polish Football Federation confirmed on Saturday morning.

On Thursday the team coached by Czeslaw Michniewicz tied 1-1 with Scotland on the road after Krzysztof Piatek converted a penalty kick to find an equalizer in the last minute of injury time.

The Poles now prepare for the crucial battle in the play-off phase of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. On Tuesday Robert Lewandowski and his teammates will face Sweden, who beat the Czech Republic 1-0 in the extra time.

Poland will have to cope without Olympique Marseille forward Arkadiusz Milik who caught an injury at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

"The ultrasound examination confirmed a rupture of the biceps muscle. The injury precludes Arek from playing against Sweden. The player will remain in the training camp and will undergo rehabilitation. The break in the game will last approximately two weeks," team manager Jakub Kwiatkowski noted on Saturday.

Milik's absence is not Michniewicz's only problem ahead of Tuesday's game at Stadion Slaski in Chorzow. The defender Salamon is also ruled out from the crucial clash, while ACF Fiorentina striker Piatek's performance is in doubt due to injury as well.

"Salamon left the training camp and went to Italy for a medical consultation of the damaged adductor muscle. In the case of Piatek, there is a struggle against time. The player is determined to be able to play against Sweden," Kwiatkowski explained.
