WELLINGTON, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Nico Porteous, who just turned 20 last month, is the ace player of the New Zealand Winter Olympics team.
Porteous was named to the New Zealand Olympics team to compete in free-ski half-pipe in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and went on to earn a bronze medal at the age of 16, and created the history of a New Zealand male athlete winning the Winter Olympic medal for the first time. Since then, he has become a household name in New Zealand. Four years later, Porteous has become stronger, and appears steadier.
In the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, he will participate in the men's freestyle skiing U-shaped venue competition.
